KLDSA Makes Waves at WDSF Dancesport Competition in Bremen!

The Kuala Lumpur DanceSport Association (KLDSA) had a reason to celebrate after their athletes' dazzling performance at the recent WDSF Dancesport Competition held in Bremen, Germany. From May 31st to June 2nd, 2024, the talented KLDSA team showcased their exceptional skills on the dance floor, returning home with a remarkable haul of 2 Gold medals and 1 Bronze medal.


The competition featured both solo dancers and couples, all representing KLDSA with pride. Shining brightly in the Solo categories were Cherry Yeo Xiao Wei and Yap Wan Xin. Yeo, demonstrating exceptional artistry and technique, secured the coveted Gold medal in the WDSF Solo Female Adult Latin Category. Not to be outdone, Yap Wan Xin mirrored this success, claiming the Gold medal in the WDSF Solo Female Youth Latin Category. Their performances captivated the judges and audience alike.



KLDSA's medal haul was bolstered by Kimberly Chew Yun Han's impressive performance in the WDSF Solo Female Junior II Latin Category. Kimberly's talent and hard work earned her a well-deserved Bronze medal in this fiercely competitive field. This podium finish further exemplifies the depth of talent within the KLDSA ranks.

Beyond the medalists, credit must be given to the entire KLDSA contingent who participated. Madeleine Lau Yu Xuan also impressed, reaching the finals in her Solo category, showcasing her dedication and skill.


On the other hand, Ooi Ken Vin & Zoe Tan Zi Wei, Anson Phang Jun Keat & Cherry Yeo Xiao Wei, and Oscar Loh Yi Wei & Yap Wan Xin all displayed exceptional talent and sportsmanship throughout the competition. Their dedication and hard work alongside the medalists contributed significantly to KLDSA's overall success.


Out of which, Ooi Ken Vin & Zoe Tan Zi Wei also managed to secure the quarter finalist in both WDSF Under 21 Latin & WDSF Youth Open Latin categories leading them to be ranked 45th in the world ranking for Youth and also 58th in the world ranking for Under 21.


These impressive results are a direct reflection of the tireless dedication and commitment displayed by the KLDSA athletes and their coaches. Countless hours of training and unwavering focus culminated in these well-earned victories. The entire KLDSA community extends its heartfelt congratulations to all the participants who competed with such passion and skill. Their achievements serve as an inspiration for aspiring dancers everywhere.
